Three lanes for wide format. Pick by width, ink config, and how often you print.

Every lease runs on the same maintenance contract terms and the same depot-stocked parts inventory. The difference is print width, ink-system depth, and whether you need photo or signage workflows on top of standard CAD.

Width comparison · CAD & production class

Pick the right width before you sign anything. Here's how 24-inch through 60-inch actually compare.

Print width is the headline number, but ink config, max media weight and footprint matter just as much. The table below is built from current-generation HP DesignJet, Canon imagePROGRAF and Epson SureColor specs.

Spec 24-inch 36-inch 44-inch 60-inch
Resolution 2400 x 1200 dpi 2400 x 1200 dpi 2400 x 1200 dpi (photo: 4800 x 1200) 2880 x 1440 dpi (Epson) / 1200 x 2400 (Canon GP)
Ink config 4-color or 6-color CMYK pigment 6-color CMYK + gray + chromatic red 9-color or 10-color photo + matte black + grays 10-12 color (incl. orange, green, fluorescent pink)
Max media weight 328 gsm 500 gsm 500 gsm + canvas/board 700+ gsm; vinyl, fabric, banner
Monthly volume sweet spot Under 500 sqft 500 – 2,500 sqft 1,000 – 4,000 sqft (photo/fine-art) 3,000 – 10,000+ sqft
Footprint (W x D) 46" x 26" 62" x 27" (T1700) 74" x 35" (TX-4100 / Z9+) 104" x 44" (P20570 / GP-4000)
Typical lease $/mo $89 — $129 $189 — $329 $329 — $549 $549 — $1,400+

Numbers are typical lease pricing on 36-month $1-buyout terms with installation included. Actual price depends on credit profile, ink-bundle election, and whether a maintenance contract is bundled in. Email sales@1800officesolutions.com for the current SKU sheet.

Atlanta architecture firm. 3-office rollout. Plotter uptime: 99.4% over 18 months.

A regional architecture practice with offices in Buckhead, Midtown and Athens needed identical plotter rooms in all three locations and a single number to call when something jammed. They went HP DesignJet T2600 across the board with our Production tier maintenance.

"Peachtree Architects" · 3 HP DesignJet T2600 fleet · Atlanta + Athens

Onboarded 18 months ago · previously running aging Oce TDS400 + ad-hoc HP T1300 · needed identical workflow across 3 offices for distributed project teams
  1. Week 1 Site survey at all 3 offices. Validated power, network drop, freight access, plotter-room ventilation. Buckhead office needed a 60A circuit upgrade; coordinated with their landlord's electrician.
  2. Week 2 3x HP DesignJet T2600 36" MFP delivered, uncrated, placed and configured. Each device on static IP, AD-bound, with scan-to-folder mapped to each office's project share. PaperCut Mobility integrated.
  3. Week 3 Plot-style libraries imported from their AutoCAD and Revit installations. Color profiles calibrated against in-house Pantone color-match deck. 2-hour operator training session at each office covered roll changes, scan-to-PDF for as-builts, and PaperCut release.
  4. Month 2 First device-down event — Athens office, printhead error on chromatic black. Tech on-site at 1 hr 35 min, printhead replaced from local depot stock. Total downtime: 2 hours including diagnostic and recalibration.
  5. Month 6 QBR check-in. Total volume across 3 offices: 14,200 sqft printed. 3 service calls (avg 2.1 hr response). Auto-shipped ink replacement: 22 cartridges. Zero unexpected invoices outside the lease + maintenance line.
  6. Month 12 Annual review. Volume scaled to 31,800 sqft across 12 months as project pipeline grew. Flat monthly cost held. Recommended Production tier upsize for Buckhead after volume pattern showed 2,800 sqft/mo for two consecutive quarters.
  7. Month 18 Outcome: Measured plotter uptime 99.4% across all 3 devices. 7 service tickets in 18 months, all resolved on first visit. Office managers stopped tracking ink — auto-ship handles it. Renewed for 36 more months without re-quoting.
Outcome: 99.4% uptime over 18 months. 3-office consistency on a single contract. Auto-ink eliminated 4 hours/month of admin work per office. Zero CapEx outlay — lease structure preserved working capital for project-stage cash flow needs.

FAQ · the questions our lease desk hears daily

Wide format leasing, answered honestly.

What lease terms do you offer for large format printers?

Standard terms are 36, 48 and 60 months. 36-month is most common for active AEC studios that want to refresh into HP+ subscription ink models. 60-month flattens monthly payment for budget-constrained shops, with a $1 buyout. Fair Market Value (FMV) leases are available on production-class hardware (44-inch and up) where you'd rather upgrade at term-end than own.

FMV vs $1 buyout — which makes more sense for a plotter?

$1 buyout for 24-inch and 36-inch desktop plotters. The technology stays usable for 7+ years, OEM service parts remain available, and ownership avoids end-of-term surprise. FMV for 44-inch and 60-inch production hardware where ink-system advances meaningfully change unit economics every 4-5 years and you'll want to refresh.

Are ink and roll media included in the monthly payment?

Optionally yes, on our Production tier and above. Most AEC clients elect a per-square-foot all-in plan: a fixed $/sqft covering ink and bond paper, billed monthly against actual print volume metered by the device. Specialty media (vinyl, fabric, photo, canvas) is always quoted separately because cost per square foot varies 5x by media class.

Can you handle oversize media — 44-inch fine-art rolls or 60-inch vinyl?

Yes. Our 44-inch HP DesignJet Z9+ and Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-4600 handle fine-art and photo workflows including canvas and matte cotton rag. For 60-inch signage and vinyl/fabric output we lease Mimaki JV300 and Roland TrueVIS VG3, which use eco-solvent or latex inks suited for outdoor durability. Tell us the media class up front so the right device gets quoted.

Do these plotters include scanning?

Some do, by SKU. The HP DesignJet T2600 MFP, Canon imagePROGRAF TX-4100 MFP and Epson SureColor T7770DM include integrated 36-inch scanners with scan-to-PDF, scan-to-folder and scan-to-cloud workflows for AEC mark-up sheets and as-built drawings. Standalone large-format scanners (Contex IQ Quattro X) can be added to any base printer if your workflow needs it.

How is network setup handled?

On-site setup is included in every install. We configure the device on your VLAN, set static IP or DHCP reservation, install drivers across Windows and macOS clients, configure print queues from your CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, Bentley, Bluebeam) and validate plot styles. AD authentication, follow-me printing and PaperCut integration are available where you already use them.

What is your support response time?

4-hour on-site SLA in primary metros for any device-down ticket. Average measured response is 2.7 hours. Remote diagnostics within 30 minutes of ticket open during business hours. Most printhead, ink-system and roll-feed issues are resolved on the first visit because techs carry the high-failure-rate parts on the truck.

What happens at end of lease?

Three options: (1) buy out at the agreed residual ($1 on capital leases, FMV at fair market on FMV leases), (2) refresh into a new lease on current-generation hardware with no down payment, or (3) return the device with no penalty if it comes back in working order with no missing pieces. We send the end-of-term packet 90 days before expiration so nothing surprises you.

What's included in the install?

Delivery, uncrating, placement, network configuration, driver installation, calibration (color and length on production units), media loading, operator training (1-hour session), and a 30-day post-install follow-up. We coordinate with your facilities team for elevator access and freight delivery on production-class hardware where applicable.

Can we lease a refurbished or off-lease plotter to save money?

Yes. We carry a refurbished inventory of 24-inch and 36-inch HP DesignJet, Canon imagePROGRAF and Epson SureColor units that came off lease and were factory-recertified. Pricing typically runs 30-45% below new on the same monthly payment structure. Same maintenance contract options apply. Inventory rotates weekly — ask for the current refurb sheet.

Pick the right plotter the first time.

Tell us the use case, monthly volume and media type — we'll match three SKUs across HP, Canon and Epson, send a side-by-side TCO with maintenance, and quote install for next week. No down payment.
