Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Lanier LD140C is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a workgroup of 10-25 people that needs faster color than the LD130C in the same desktop-class chassis.
  • You print 2,500-7,000 color pages a month — well below the 175,000-page duty cycle.
  • You want a 42-ppm color/B&W engine with the smaller LD-series footprint (21.7 x 22.4 x 28 inches).
  • You're keeping an Aficio MP C4000/C5000-family fleet alive and want a Lanier-branded sibling on the same supplies.
  • You scan to email or network folder daily and accept ADF speeds typical of late-2000s color MFPs.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 7,000-15,000 pages a month — the engine handles it but toner cost rises with the smaller cartridge yields (8,300 mono / 10,000 color).
  • You don't need 11x17 — this caps at legal.
  • You can live with a 15-second first color print.
  • You're cross-shopping LD140C vs LD130C — same chassis; LD140C is the 42-ppm step up from the LD130C's 32 ppm.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You need 11x17 (tabloid) — capped at legal here.
  • You print under 1,500 pages a month — overbuilt at this speed; the LD130C is the right slot.
  • You need touchscreen workflow apps and modern security — legacy platform. Current IM C2000/C2500 is the modern equivalent.
  • You need single-pass duplex scanning — not standard on this generation.
  • You don't have a Lanier/Ricoh dealer for the Aficio MP C-family — supplies and service ship through dealer channels.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Lanier LD140C is a desktop-class A4 color MFP (print, copy, scan, fax) — Lanier rebrand of the Ricoh Aficio MP C4000/C5000 family. Built for workgroups of 10-25 people printing 2,500-7,000 color pages a month. It runs 42 ppm in both black and color (faster than the LD130C in the same chassis), holds 550 sheets standard in a single drawer (expandable to 2,300 with optional feeders), and is rated for 175,000 pages per month. Print resolution is up to 600 x 600 dpi, first copy is 10 seconds B&W / 15 seconds color. The chassis is 21.7 x 22.4 x 28.0 inches and weighs 176.3 lb. Scan-to email, network folder, and USB are standard. This is a legacy platform — most units now sell as pre-owned, low-meter equipment. The thing buyers regret: assuming the C in LD140C means it's a 'C-series' modern color unit. It isn't — this is a late-2000s Aficio MP C4000/C5000 rebrand, and operators who came from current Lanier IM C-series machines will notice the older interface and slower first-copy times. For volume color today, look at the IM C2500 or IM C3000.
