The Lanier MP 4055 (model MP 4055SP) is a floor-standing tabloid (11x17) B&W laser MFP built for workgroups of 15-40 users. It prints and copies at 40 ppm, holds 1,200 sheets standard across two 550-sheet drawers and a 100-sheet bypass, and expands to 4,700 sheets with the Tandem LCT plus Side LCT. First-page-out is 4.0 seconds and warm-up is under 24 seconds. The standard 220-sheet single-pass document feeder (SPDF) scans at up to 180 ipm in duplex. The major change over the predecessor MP 4054 is the 10.1-inch Smart Operation Panel — the same Android-based touchscreen used on the rest of the current Ricoh/Lanier MP lineup, with widgets, customizable home screens, and Workpath app support. Standard connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, USB host on the panel, and SD card; Wireless LAN and NFC are optional add-ons. AirPrint and Mopria are standard. The thing buyers regret: ordering the 4055 when the 5055 (50 ppm) costs barely more — at any volume above 8,000 pages/month the speed bump pays back fast.
