  • You need fax — the Fax Option Type M44 bolts on; plan for the SAF memory option if you receive heavy fax volume.
  • You're moving from a slower model — the engine warm-up is 60 seconds (vs. 20 seconds on the IM 7000/8000), so first-job-of-the-morning takes a little longer.

The Savin IM 9000 is the top of Savin's high-speed A3 black-and-white line — a 90 ppm production-class multifunction on the same 441-lb console chassis as the IM 7000 (70 ppm) and IM 8000 (80 ppm). It's built for central reprographics, in-house print shops, and large back-office groups of 250-500 people that print 50,000+ pages a month and need to clear daily queues. It scans at 120 ipm simplex / 240 ipm duplex on the single-pass document feeder, prints at up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi with a 2.9-second first-page-out, and ships with 4,300 sheets of standard input — 8,700 max with the 4,400-sheet LCT RT4080. Maximum output capacity hits 3,500 sheets with the 3,000-sheet finisher. Toner runs 43,000 pages and the waste toner bottle is 450,000 sheets, both shared with the IM 7000/IM 8000. The 10.1" tiltable Smart Operation Panel with the human-detection wake sensor matches the rest of the Savin Smart Panel line. Standard connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB; the panel itself adds Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The thing every IM 9000 install has to plan for: power. Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.
