The Savin MP C406 is an A4 color laser desktop multifunction from the previous-generation MP C306/C406 platform (rebadged Ricoh MP C406), built for small offices and workgroups of 5-20 people printing 2,000-7,000 color pages a month. Prints and copies at 42 ppm in both color and B&W at up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, first-copies in 5.4 seconds B&W and 7.4 seconds color. Standard paper capacity is 600 sheets across one 500-sheet tray and a 100-sheet bypass; max is 2,300 sheets with optional paper banks. The 100-sheet single-pass SPDF is standard — it scans at 79 ipm simplex / 158 ipm duplex, which is rare at this footprint. Control panel is the older 9" color touchscreen, not the modern Smart Operation Panel that ships on the MP C407 successor. Scan-to-email, scan-to-folder (SMB/FTP), and scan-to-USB are standard. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB 2.0; Wi-Fi is an optional interface unit. AirPrint and NFC are not supported on this generation. New sales discontinued when the MP C407 launched; most field units today are refurbished. The thing buyers regret: most don't — refurbs from this platform are a strong value if you don't need AirPrint. The one upgrade reason: AirPrint and Mopria support, which the MP C407 adds standard.

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.
