Every spec, no guessing

The Toshiba e-STUDIO 256 is the 25-ppm A3 mono MFP from the 256/306/356/456/506 platform (~2012), the direct refresh of the legacy 255. It runs 25 ppm in mono at 600 x 600 dpi (2,400 x 600 with smoothing), is rated for a 100,000-page monthly duty cycle, and is sized for small offices (5-15 users) running 800-3,500 pages a month. Standard paper capacity is 1,200 sheets across two 550-sheet drawers plus a 100-sheet bypass. The 100-sheet reversing ADF is an option. First page out is 4.7 seconds. The chassis is identical to the 255 (23 x 30 x 23 inches, 125 lb) — Toshiba kept the same form factor across the refresh. Today this is bought almost exclusively as a fleet-replacement unit; for new installs, the 2528A on the current e-BRIDGE Next platform is faster, has a real touchscreen, and supports modern security and cloud workflows. The thing buyers regret: not specifying the RADF up front. Almost every office ends up adding it within a year, and adding it later costs more than buying it bundled.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.
