Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Canon Arizona 1260 GT is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a sign and display shop printing 200-1,000 sq ft a day on rigid substrates (acrylic, foamboard, aluminum, wood).
  • You need a true flatbed (no edge curl, no media warp) for sheets up to 49.2 x 98.4 in. and up to 2 in. thick.
  • You're already running a 1240 GT and want to upgrade to 6-channel for white ink and varnish without buying a new chassis.
  • You need photo-quality output on rigid — VariaDot droplets from 6-42 picoliters get you near-1,440 dpi visual sharpness.
  • You print a mix of POP, indoor signage, fine art reproductions, and one-off backlit work.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 1,000-3,000 sq ft a day — the 1260 GT handles it but at Production speed (~225 sq ft/hr) you'll be running long shifts. The 1280 or 1340 step up the throughput.
  • You occasionally need flexible roll media — the optional Roll Media Option bolts on but adds setup time per job.
  • You're upgrading from a competing flatbed — operators learn ProductionHouse / ONYX in 1-2 weeks.
  • You need varnish for tactile finishes — the 6-channel config supports clear varnish but uses one of your color slots.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print over 5,000 sq ft a day — get the 1340 GT, 1360 GT, or 6160 XTHF Mark II. The 1260 chassis is mid-volume.
  • You only print on roll media — buy a roll-only printer (imagePROGRAF or competitor solvent/latex). The 1260 GT's value is the flatbed.
  • You need pieces larger than 49.2 x 98.4 in. — step up to the 1260 XT (4 x 8 ft+ bed) or 6160 XTHF.
  • You're a small shop printing under 200 sq ft a week — Arizona-class capex doesn't pencil out at that volume; look at smaller UV flatbeds.
  • You don't already have ProductionHouse / ONYX RIP and a trained operator — this is not a press-a-button machine.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Canon (Oce) Arizona 1260 GT is a mid-volume true UV flatbed printer for sign, display, and graphics shops printing on rigid substrates up to 49.2 x 98.4 in. and up to 2 in. thick. It uses a 6-channel piezoelectric VariaDot printhead system with droplet sizes from 6 to 42 picoliters, putting visual quality in the same class as 1,440 dpi solvent or latex output. Top speed is up to 362 sq ft/hr in Express mode, with Production at roughly 225 sq ft/hr and higher-quality modes considerably slower. The 1260 GT is the 6-channel step up from the 1240 GT — it adds white ink and/or clear varnish for backlit work, dark substrates, and tactile finishes, and Canon offers a 2-channel upgrade kit so 1240 GT owners can move up without replacing the chassis. UV-LED instant curing means no warm-up time and lower power draw than mercury-arc systems. We sell these to shops doing 200-1,000 sq ft per day on a mix of POP signage, fine art repro, and short-run rigid display work. Buyers who later regret it are usually under-volumed (under 200 sq ft a week, where the capex doesn't pencil out) or trying to push past 5,000 sq ft a day — at that point the 1340 GT or 6160 XTHF is the right tool.

FAQ

Canon Arizona 1260 GT, common questions

The questions we get asked most often on this model. If yours isn't here, call (888) 574-5120 and get an answer in about 30 seconds.

The Canon Arizona 1260 GT does not use traditional toner. Instead, it uses UV-curable inks in 2-liter (800 ml) quick-exchange bags for standard colors and 1-liter bags for white and varnish inks. The printer ships with a starter set of these ink bags. Replacement ink bags are available in high-volume capacities. When you lease through us with ink included, you never pay for ink separately.
The Canon Arizona 1260 GT is a 6-channel printer that includes white ink and/or clear varnish options, making it suitable for backlit work, dark substrates, and tactile finishes. In contrast, the Canon Arizona 1240 GT is a 4-channel printer with a standard CMYK ink configuration. The 1260 GT also offers a 2-channel upgrade kit for 1240 GT owners. Both models share similar print speeds and VariaDot technology, but the 1260 GT is better suited for shops requiring advanced finishing options. For small offices, the 1240 GT may be more cost-effective if white ink and varnish are not needed.
The Canon Arizona 1260 GT is designed for mid-volume production, ideal for businesses printing 200-1,000 sq ft per day. It is not suitable for small businesses with low print volumes (under 200 sq ft per week) due to its high capital expenditure and industrial requirements. Small businesses with lower print needs should consider smaller UV flatbed printers or explore other options.
Yes, the Canon Arizona 1260 GT supports full-color printing with CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) as well as Light Cyan and Light Magenta for enhanced color accuracy and smooth gradients. It also offers optional white ink and clear varnish for specialized applications.
