Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Canon imagePROGRAF GP-300 is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You need a wide-format printer for production-level color printing on large paper sizes like A0, A1, or 36-inch rolls.
  • You prefer a single-function device focused solely on high-quality printing without scanning or copying features.
  • You want a printer that supports multiple connectivity options, including USB, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet for flexible setup.
  • You work with aqueous pigment ink/toner and require a color device for vibrant, long-lasting prints.
  • You need a new, reliable printer with a 5-star rating for consistent performance in professional settings.
  • You prioritize a compact, single-sided (simplex) printer for straightforward, high-volume output.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You occasionally print large-format documents but don’t need daily high-volume production.
  • You want a color printer for occasional wide-format projects but primarily use standard-sized prints.
  • You need basic connectivity options and don’t require advanced network integration or cloud printing.
  • You’re okay with manual duplexing since this printer only supports single-sided printing.
  • You prefer a dedicated printer without multifunction features but still want color capability.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You need a multifunction device with scanning, copying, or faxing capabilities.
  • You require automatic duplex printing for double-sided documents to save paper.
  • You print primarily in black and white and don’t need a color printer.
  • You need a printer with high-speed output, as this model’s speed specs are not listed.
  • You work with non-standard media types, as this printer’s supported media types are not specified.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

What customers actually say

The 5-star consensus: "it just works"

Small sample size, high signal. The 7 verified reviewers picked this model to replace older inkjets or aging Canon machines. Common threads in the feedback:

  • "Been using this for our small architecture firm for about 8 months now. The 24-inch width is perfect for our needs, and the print quality on technical drawings is really solid. Setup was straightforward and the software integrates well with our existing workflow."
  • "Good printer overall, handles our poster and sign printing just fine. The color accuracy is decent, though I wish the roll feed was a bit easier to load. Haven't had any major issues in the year we've had it, but customer service could be more responsive."
  • "Upgraded from an older Canon and this thing is noticeably faster. We do a lot of CAD plotting for construction documents and the GP-300 handles it without any problems. Ink costs are reasonable compared to what we were paying before."
  • "Got this for our small design studio and it handles large format printing way better than our old HP. The color accuracy is solid and it doesn't jam up like I expected. Worth the investment if you're doing serious print work."
  • "Used it for printing architectural drawings and blueprints in my home office. Does the job well, though the setup took longer than I'd hoped and the manual could be clearer. Been reliable for about 8 months now."
  • "We run a print shop and needed something compact that wouldn't take up too much floor space. This Canon fits the bill perfectly and the paper feed mechanism is solid. Maintenance has been minimal so far."
  • "Using it for poster and banner printing at my marketing firm. Print quality is good but consumables are getting pricey. Still beats sending everything out to a vendor though."

Yes. The MFC-L2759DW ships with a high-yield 4,500-page starter toner cartridge, which is roughly 3 to 6 months of toner for a typical small office. Replacement toner is Canon TN830XL (high-yield, about 4,500 pages) or TN830 (standard yield, about 1,200 pages). When you lease through us with toner included, you never pay for toner separately.

The Canon imagePROGRAF GP-300 is the refreshed version of the MFC-L2750DW with updated firmware, a longer-life drum, and an expanded starter toner yield (4,500 pages versus 3,000). Print speed, automatic 2-sided print and scan, and connectivity are identical. For most small offices the 2759DW is the better long-term value because of the larger included toner.

Yes, for small offices printing under about 2,500 pages per month. It's fast at 36 ppm, handles auto 2-sided print and scan, supports Wi-Fi and Ethernet, and has a 50-page document feeder for multi-page scans. If you regularly print more than 5,000 pages per month or need color, step up to a commercial-grade multifunction printer — see our commercial printer options.

No. The MFC-L2759DW is monochrome (black and white) only. It cannot print color. If you need color, look at the Brother MFC-L3750CDW or a commercial color multifunction printer like the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX or Konica Minolta bizhub series.

Canon includes a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty on the MFC-L2759DW when purchased new from an authorized reseller. 1-800 Office Solutions is an authorized Canon reseller. Extended warranty and full-service maintenance plans are available through our managed print services bundle, which covers parts, labor, and on-site service for the life of the agreement.

Yes. Free delivery is included on every Canon imagePROGRAF GP-300 order shipped within the continental United States. Most orders ship within 1 to 2 business days and arrive within 2 to 5 business days. Install guidance is available by phone or remote session at no extra cost.
