The Lanier MP 402SPF is a desktop B&W laser MFP built for small offices and workgroups of 5-15 users that need fast scan and print without an A3 footprint. It prints and copies up to 42 ppm at 1200 x 1200 dpi, holds 500 sheets standard plus a 100-sheet bypass, and expands up to 1,600 sheets with optional paper feed units. First-print-out is 3.9 seconds and warm-up is 21 seconds. The standard 50-sheet single-pass document feeder (SPDF) scans at up to 80 ipm — that's the main upgrade over the MP 401SPF, and the reason most buyers move from a 401 to a 402. The 10.1-inch Smart Operation Panel is the same Android-based touchscreen used on the rest of the current Ricoh/Lanier MP lineup, so scan-to-folder, scan-to-email, OCR-searchable PDFs, and the @Remote management agent all work the way your existing Lanier fleet does. Standard connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, SD card slot, and a USB host; Wireless LAN, NFC, and IEEE 1284 are optional add-ons. AirPrint and Mopria are baked in. The thing buyers regret: paying for the 402SPF when their volume is under 800 pages a month — at that load any sub-$500 desktop A4 unit will do.
