You'll be happy if...

  • You print 2,000-4,000 pages a month — the machine is overbuilt for that, you'll just stretch out the lease and replace toner less often (24,000-page yield).
  • You want Wi-Fi but didn't budget for it — the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n unit is an add-on, not standard.
  • You need fax — the Fax Option Type M45 bolts on, just plan for the line install and the extra invoice line.
  • You're moving up from a desktop MFP — the 168 lb floor-standing chassis is a real footprint change, but the workflow on the panel is the same as a Brother or HP touchscreen, just bigger.

The Savin IM 3500 is a floor-standing A3 black-and-white laser multifunction built for workgroups of 15-40 people that need real tabloid (11x17) output and heavy scanning in-house. It prints and copies up to 35 ppm, scans at 120 ipm simplex / 240 ipm duplex on a 220-sheet single-pass document feeder (B&W and color), and prints at up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. Standard paper capacity is 1,200 sheets across two 550-sheet drawers plus the bypass; the maximum is 4,700 sheets with the 2,000-sheet LCT or extra paper banks. The 10.1" Smart Operation Panel is the same one Savin (and Ricoh, and Lanier) use across their A3 line, so anyone who's used a recent Ricoh-family MFP can drive it on day one. Always Current Technology pushes firmware and security updates over the air, and Smart Integration handles scan-to-Dropbox, scan-to-SharePoint, and scan-to-folder out of the box. Standard connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB; Wi-Fi, NFC, and fax are all optional add-ons. The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.
