Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Sharp MX-2630N is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a workgroup of 10-25 people that needs A3 (11x17) color and prints 1,500-4,000 pages a month.
  • You scan multi-page docs daily — the 100-sheet RSPF runs at 80 ipm, a noticeable jump from the older MX-2615N/2616N generation.
  • You want a 7-inch multi-touch LCD with drag-and-drop home screen customization and pinch/spread/swipe gestures.
  • You're standardizing on the 2017-era MX series with native Cloud Connect (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox) and standard Print Release pull-printing.
  • You need a large finisher — the matched MX-FN17/FN19 saddle-stitch options scale to 3,000-sheet output and 65-sheet stapling.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print up to 5,000 pages a month — the engine handles it, but you'll be ordering MX-31GTBA/CA/MA/YA toner more often.
  • You want Wi-Fi — the MX-EB18 wireless LAN adapter is the matched option (NFC is a separate option).
  • You need PostScript 3 — PCL 6 is standard, PS3 is the optional MX-PK11 kit.
  • You're moving up from an MX-2615N — same general 7" UI but the 2017 controller adds Cloud Connect and Print Release in the base.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You're buying new in 2024 and want the latest UI — the BP-50C26 has the newer 10.1" tilting touchscreen, native Microsoft Teams folder scan, and Universal Print.
  • You print more than 6,000 pages a month — step up to the MX-3050N (30 ppm) or current BP-50C31 (31 ppm).
  • You need single-pass duplex scanning at 130+ ipm — the 100-sheet RSPF is reversing, not single-pass dual-scan.
  • You don't need 11x17 — this is an A3 floor unit; a desktop A4 like the BP-B540WR is cheaper and smaller.
  • You expected Wi-Fi standard — wireless is the optional MX-EB18 adapter on every MX-2630N.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Sharp MX-2630N is the 26-ppm A3 color multifunction in Sharp's 2017-era MX-2630/3050/3550/4050/5050/6050 line, sized for workgroups of 10-25 people printing 1,500-4,000 pages a month. It prints and copies 26 ppm in both mono and color on letter (15 ppm on tabloid), scans up to 80 ipm through the standard 100-sheet RSPF, and ships with 650 sheets standard, expandable to 6,300 sheets across optional drawers. The 7-inch multi-touch color LCD adds drag-and-drop home screen customization, pinch/spread/swipe gestures, and an advanced preview. Print Release (pull printing across up to 5 networked MFPs), Cloud Connect (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint Online), and standard Sharp OSA cloud integrations are in the base controller. PCL 6 is standard; Adobe PostScript 3 is the optional MX-PK11 kit. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 standard; Wi-Fi via the optional MX-EB18 adapter. Finishing options scale from 500-sheet output up to the saddle-stitch finisher with 65-sheet stapling. The thing buyers regret: speccing the MX-2630N in 2024 when the current BP-50C26 sells for similar money, runs the same 26 ppm, ships with the newer 10.1" tilting touchscreen, and adds native Microsoft Teams folder scan and Universal Print in the base.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

Yes, the Sharp MX-2630N ships with a starter toner cartridge. The starter black toner yields approximately 40,000 pages, while color toners (cyan, magenta, yellow) yield around 24,000 pages each at 5% coverage. Replacement high-yield toners (MX-61NT series) offer the same yields. When you lease through us with toner included, you never pay for toner separately.
The Sharp MX-2630N is a 26-ppm A3 color MFP designed for workgroups of 10-25 people, with a 7-inch touchscreen and standard features like Cloud Connect and Print Release. The Sharp BP-70C31 is a newer 31-ppm model with a 10.1-inch tilting touchscreen, faster scanning (280 ipm vs. 80 ipm), and enhanced security (WPA3, TLS 1.3). The BP-70C31 also includes native Microsoft Teams integration and Universal Print, making it a better fit for modern offices needing advanced workflows. For small offices prioritizing cost and features, the BP-70C31 offers better long-term value.
The Sharp MX-2630N is suitable for small businesses with 10-25 employees printing 1,500-4,000 pages monthly. It offers 26 ppm color printing, a 100-sheet scanner, and expandable paper capacity. However, its older firmware and limited features compared to newer models may not meet future needs. For higher volume or advanced features, consider upgrading to a commercial option like the Sharp BP-50C26.
Yes, the Sharp MX-2630N supports full-color printing at 26 ppm. It uses high-yield color toners (MX-61NTCA/MA/YA) with a yield of 24,000 pages each. For businesses needing color output, this model is a solid choice.
