Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Sharp MX-M753N is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • Pick this if you need 75 ppm mono throughput and you are buying refurb or off-lease at a sharp discount.
  • Pick this if your workflow is print-heavy and scan needs are basic email or SMB folder.
  • Pick this if you have a mature, stable network — the older controller likes simple environments.
  • Pick this if you need 6,600-sheet capacity for long unattended runs.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • It's fine if your volume is 50,000 to 75,000 pages a month — you are not stressing the device.
  • It's fine if your team is used to Sharp's older menu structure and doesn't need a modern touchscreen UX.
  • It's fine if you have a Windows-only shop and don't push exotic scan destinations.
  • It's fine if you mostly print letter-size and only occasionally hit ledger.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • Skip this if you need color output.
  • Skip this if you want native cloud scan destinations without buying connectors.
  • Skip this if your monthly volume is under 25,000 pages — this device is overkill and you'll pay for it.
  • Skip this if you need the latest security firmware updates; older Sharp controllers reach end-of-firmware-life sooner.
  • Skip this if you want a snappy, modern touchscreen experience.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Sharp MX-M753N is a 75 ppm monochrome multifunction copier for fast workgroups that push 100,000 to 200,000 pages a month — law firms, school districts, busy print rooms. Print resolution is 1200x1200 dpi, the duplex single-pass feeder holds 150 sheets, and paper capacity stretches from a default load to 6,600 sheets with the optional decks. Specs feel dated by 2026 standards: 80 GB hard drive, 512 MB system RAM (1 GB print/scan, expandable to 2 GB), 800 MHz processor, 8.5-inch color touchscreen. That is fine for the print workload but you notice it on heavy scan-to-network jobs. First copy out is fast and the 75 ppm scan speed keeps the feeder fed. The thing buyers regret: the older controller. Drivers still get updates but the UI is clearly a previous generation, and integrating with cloud destinations like SharePoint or Google Drive needs add-on connectors most of the time. If you want the same speed with modern firmware, look at the MX-M754N or newer; if you are buying used and the price is right, this still cranks out work.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

FAQ

Sharp MX-M753N, common questions

The questions we get asked most often on this model. If yours isn't here, call (888) 574-5120 and get an answer in about 30 seconds.

Yes, the Sharp MX-M753N ships with a starter toner cartridge. The starter toner has an estimated yield of 83,000 pages at 5% coverage. The replacement toner model is the Sharp MX-753NT, which also yields approximately 83,000 pages. When you lease through us with toner included, you never pay for toner separately.
The Sharp MX-M753N is a monochrome printer with a speed of 75 ppm, designed for high-volume workgroups, while the Sharp BP-70C31 is a color printer with a speed of 31 ppm, suitable for smaller workgroups needing color printing. The BP-70C31 features a more modern 10.1-inch touchscreen with advanced scan-to-cloud capabilities and better security features like WPA3 wireless and TLS 1.3 encryption. The MX-M753N has an older controller and limited cloud integration. For small offices needing color, the BP-70C31 is a better fit due to its modern features and versatility.
The Sharp MX-M753N is designed for high-volume environments, with a monthly page volume of 100,000 to 200,000 pages and a speed of 75 ppm. While it is powerful, its high volume capacity and monochrome-only printing may be excessive for a small business. If your business requires color printing or has lower volume needs, consider stepping up to a more suitable commercial option.
No, the Sharp MX-M753N is a monochrome printer and can only print in black and white. If you need color printing, consider alternatives like the Sharp BP-70C31, which offers color printing at 31 ppm, or other color models in the Sharp Advanced Series.
