3 Biggest Ways that AI+IoT Will Transform the World

The Internet of Things, or IoT, refers to the way even everyday tech is becoming interconnected. Even appliances like speakers, refrigerators, and ovens have started to use networking features, but true IoT is still not yet achieved. One reason for this is people’s attitudes toward increasing AI dominance.

According to the Pew Research Center, experts are far more enthusiastic about AI than the public. To be specific, 47% of experts felt more excited than concerned about the way AI use is increasing in everyday life. In contrast, only 11% of the public shared this sentiment.

This skepticism is understandable due to concerns over job loss. However, many people fail to see how AI can help change the world for the better, especially in combination with IoT. Today, let’s look at three ways that this transformation is happening.

1. It Gives Us the Closest Thing to a Crystal Ball

The amount of data that IoT devices collect can be mind-boggling. Fridges, TVs, and Smart Home devices like Alexa all collect vast amounts of data every second from their many sensors. While this data goes unused for the average person, it is incredibly valuable for businesses.

For instance, if your employees are spending hours pulling together reports from multiple systems, it can be time-consuming and quite inefficient. However, AI can monitor a network of IoT-enabled devices to not just pull data but also automatically make inferences.

So if an employee updates a spreadsheet with new data, AI could crunch those numbers and potentially detect a revenue loss in the next quarter. It feels almost magical, but this type of AI + IoT relationship is only increasing.

As Gallup reports, both moderate and frequent AI usage in work settings have nearly doubled over the last 2 years. This growth has mainly been in white collar environments. In comparison, AI in production has actually declined from 11% in 2023 to 9% in 2025. This could potentially be due to industrial devices still being largely mechanical and lacking the needed IoT features for AI integration.

2. Businesses Become Easier to Run

One of the best ways that AI and IoT are transforming the world is through the lowering of barriers for entrepreneurship. In the initial months of business, many founders pay large sums of money to firms that analyze operational data. This is done to find how and where losses can be minimized and profits maximized.

With AI + IoT integration, that process can potentially happen completely in-house. This isn’t the first time revolutionary tech is helping business, and it won’t be the last.

AI on its own has already proven its worth. Today, so many new entrepreneurs have saved money by using AI website builders instead of hiring web developers. As Hocoos notes, business websites can now be built by simply answering a few prompts, which is incredible.

Now, when combined with IoT, even more areas become targeted and simplified. The key here is that both AI and IoT depend on each other. As Maciej Kranz, a VP at Cisco, observes, without AI, the data that IoT devices produce would have limited value. Likewise, AI on its own would struggle to be relevant in business without data from IoT devices.

3. It Makes Living a Healthy Life Easier

While the points above focused on businesses and productivity, it would all be for nothing if our health wasn’t looked after. Thankfully, this is yet another area that is seeing transformation with AI and IoT.

Many people use wearable devices that can track heart rate and blood oxygen levels. This data is helping millions of people take a much more active interest in their health due to the hard data that becomes visible. “You walked 334 steps today! However, doctors recommend 8,000 to 10,000 steps every day.” That’s enough to guilt at least some people into action.

Then, when this data is combined with more data from other health devices, you can enjoy highly tailored health plans based on your goals. It goes without saying that this would be amazing for people managing chronic conditions. The changes in blood pressure or blood sugar are generally critical to track, and AI + IoT can be a godsend for them.

Long story short, while some people are naturally skeptical about the speed of AI growth, it’s not like it’s just a job-stealing technology. Even if people don’t see it now, AI and IoT are steadily increasing the quality of life for both individuals and businesses. The growth spurt can bring a little pain, but here’s hoping people find it worth it in the long haul.
