Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Sharp BP-50C26 is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a small office or workgroup of 10-25 people that needs in-house tabloid (11x17) color a few times a week.
  • You print 2,000-5,000 pages a month, mixed mono and color, mostly letter with occasional legal and ledger.
  • You want a 10.1-inch tilting touchscreen and a real RSPF feeder, not the cramped 4-inch panel and 50-sheet ADF on cheap A3 boxes.
  • You need scan to OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Box, Dropbox, or Google Drive without buying a third-party connector.
  • You want the lowest entry into Sharp's A3 Essentials line — same chassis as the 31/36/45 ppm models, half the speed, lower price.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 5,000-7,000 pages a month — the engine handles it, you're just running the slowest model in a chassis built for higher volumes.
  • You need fax — the BP-FX11 Fax Expansion Kit is an option, not standard. Budget the kit if fax matters.
  • You want PostScript 3 for a Mac-heavy shop — add the MX-PK13L kit. Native is PCL 6.
  • You want Wi-Fi — the BP-EB10 wireless LAN adapter is optional; wired Gigabit is standard.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print over 8,000 pages a month — bump to the BP-50C31 or 50C36; same chassis, faster engine, better per-page economics.
  • You scan 200-sheet stacks daily and need single-pass duplex — the RSPF here is 100 sheets and reverses (slower than a true DSPF on 2-sided originals).
  • You need fax, PostScript, and Wi-Fi out of the box — all three are optional kits on this model. Look at the C535WD if A4-only is fine and you want everything standard.
  • You're running a tight power budget on a 15A circuit shared with other devices — this pulls up to 1.5 kW peak.
  • You want OCR scan to searchable PDF/Word standard — that requires the MX-EB20L OCR Expansion Kit on this model.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Sharp BP-50C26 is the entry point in Sharp's BP-50 Essentials Series — a floor-standing A3 color MFP rated at 26 pages per minute in both black and color. It's the same chassis as the BP-50C31, 50C36, 50C45, 50C55, and 50C65, just with the slowest engine, which means buyers get the full 10.1-inch tilting touchscreen, the 100-sheet RSPF, max 6,300-sheet expandable capacity, and 11x17 ledger output at the lowest price point in the family. Standard paper capacity is 650 sheets (one 550-sheet drawer plus a 100-sheet bypass), and you can stack drawers up to a 6,300-sheet max with split tandem and large capacity cassette options. Print resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi mono / 600 x 600 color, output up to 12 x 18, and original size up to 11 x 17. Cloud Connect handles scan-to-OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, Box, Dropbox, and Google Drive without add-on connectors. The thing buyers regret: PCL 6 is standard but PostScript 3, fax, Wi-Fi, OCR, and Compact PDF are all optional kits — check the BOM before signing. Best fit: an office of 10-25 printing 2,000-5,000 pages a month with regular tabloid color needs.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.
