What You Need Before Installing Your Driver

Skip the trial and error. Gather these four items first, and the install becomes a five-minute job rather than a thirty-minute one.

• Your bizhub model number. Look at the front of the device. So if you see C360i, C450i, or 4050i, write the full string down.
• Your exact macOS version. Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac. And note both the name (Sequoia, Tahoe) and the build number.
• The printer’s IPv4 address. On the bizhub panel tap Menu, then Utility, then Device Information.
• Admin rights on the Mac. Your macOS password will be required during the .pkg install.

One tip from our techs. So if you manage a fleet, keep a shared spreadsheet of model and IP pairs by department. But if a printer ever changes IP, every Mac in that area needs the new value, and a quick reference list saves real time.

Step 1

Download the Right Konica Minolta Driver for macOS

Open Safari or Chrome and go to the official Konica Minolta US support hub at kmbs.konicaminolta.us/support-downloads. Use the Quick Search box. Type your bizhub model.

Pick the Driver Pack Matching Your macOS

Click the blue Drivers tab. Scroll until you see a section labeled with your macOS version. So a Sequoia driver will say macOS 15. A Tahoe driver will say macOS 26. The European Konica Minolta site keeps a public OS compatibility list, and as of early 2026, Tahoe 26 drivers are available for most current bizhub families.

Why Not Just Use AirPrint

AirPrint will get you basic printing. But you lose finishing options, secure print release, account tracking, and stapling controls. Most business users will want the full PPD-based driver. So download both the printer driver and any optional plug-ins your team relies on for scanning or fax.

Common Driver File Names

The file you want usually ends in a letter and .zip, like C360iSeriesMacOSv15.dmg or bizhubC450iMac.pkg. So skip files labeled PostScript only if you need PCL features. And skip PCL only if your workflow uses PostScript fonts.

Step 2

Run the Installer Without Hitting Gatekeeper Errors

Open Finder. Go to Downloads. Find the zip or dmg file you grabbed. Double-click it. So macOS will unpack it into a folder.

The .pkg Install

Inside the unpacked folder, find the .pkg installer. Double-click it. A standard Apple installer walks you through the rest.

• Click Continue on each screen until you reach the License page.
• Accept the license. So the installer will not move forward until you do.
• Type your macOS admin password when prompted.
• Wait for the green checkmark. The driver and any bundled fonts will land in /Library/Printers/KONICAMINOLTA/.

What to Do If Gatekeeper Blocks You

So you see a message saying the installer is from an unidentified developer? Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Scroll to the bottom. Click Open Anyway next to the blocked file. And re-launch the installer. The block only appears once for that specific package.

Step 3

Add the Printer in System Settings

Open the Apple menu. Click System Settings. So on older macOS releases, this is called System Preferences. Either way, look for Printers & Scanners.

Add a New Printer

Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button. A new window opens with three icons across the top: Default, IP, and Windows. For most bizhub setups in an office network, the IP tab is the right choice.

Fill in the IP Tab Like This

• Address: Type the printer’s IPv4 address (the one you noted from Device Information).
• Protocol: Choose Line Printer Daemon (LPD). So LPD is the most reliable choice for Konica Minolta bizhub devices on a wired or wireless network.
• Queue: Leave it blank. The driver handles the rest.
• Name: Give the printer a recognizable label like “Reception bizhub C360i”.
• Use: Click the dropdown, choose Select Software, then type your model in the search bar. Pick it from the list. Click OK.

Click Add. So a finisher selection screen may appear. And if your bizhub has a saddle-stitch finisher or paper deck, pick it from the dropdown. Otherwise click OK to finish.

Step 4

Fix the Sequoia and Tahoe Local Network Prompt

This is the silent killer of many recent installs. Starting with macOS Sequoia (15), Apple added an extra Privacy permission for any app trying to discover devices on your local network. So the Konica installer may not always trigger the prompt, and the printer appears installed but never gets a job out the door.

How to Enable Local Network Access

• Open System Settings. Click Privacy & Security in the sidebar.
• Scroll down. Click Local Network.
• Look for any entry showing Konica, Minolta, KMprint, or PageScope.
• Flip the toggle to On. So if no entry appears, send a test print first; macOS will then add the entry.
• Send a fresh test page. Yet most jobs that stalled silently will now complete.

And the same fix applies to Tahoe 26. So Apple kept the prompt structure consistent, but the privacy panel is now grouped under a new System Services subsection. If you do not see Local Network, scroll up.

Other Sequoia and Tahoe Quirks

A few users on Apple Community report that fresh Tahoe installs hide some Bonjour-based printers. So a workaround: add the printer manually by IP first, then add the Bonjour version later if you need it for AirPrint fallback. Or skip Bonjour altogether and stay on LPD.

Step 5

Set Up Department Codes and Authentication

Many bizhub fleets use account codes for tracking pages by user or department. So the driver alone will not pass that code automatically; you have to enable it in the print preset.

Turn On Account Code in the Mac Driver

• Open any document. Press Command-P.
• Choose your bizhub from the printer dropdown.
• Open the menu labeled Printer Features or Konica Minolta Specific.
• Find Account Track. Toggle it on. Enter the assigned code.
• Click Presets, then Save Current Settings as a Preset. Name it something like “My Account Code”.

So future print jobs default to that preset. And the bizhub now logs each page to the correct user, which is essential for cost recovery in law firms and accounting offices.

Secure Print Release

For confidential documents, enable Secure Print in the same dropdown. The job sits on the device until you walk over, enter your code, and release it. Healthcare offices use this to stay aligned with HIPAA paper-handling rules, since print jobs no longer sit in an open tray.

1. Printer Shows “Offline” After a Sleep / Wake Cycle

Open Printers & Scanners. Right-click the bizhub. Choose Reset Printing System. Then re-add the device. So the Mac sometimes loses the static ARP entry; a reset clears it.

2. “Unable to Communicate” Error

Confirm the IP is still correct. Many offices use DHCP, and a long weekend can shift the bizhub’s IP. Ask your IT team to assign a DHCP reservation so the printer keeps the same address.

3. Print Job Stuck in Queue

Open the queue. Click the X next to the stuck job. Then click the refresh button. So if the queue still stalls, restart the cupsd service from Terminal with sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd followed by sudo launchctl start org.cups.cupsd.

4. Driver Installs but Printer Is Missing from List

Reboot the Mac. So a fresh login finishes registering the new driver bundle with the print system.

5. Color Looks Off

Open the print dialog. Click Color Matching. Choose ColorSync, then pick the bizhub’s bundled ICC profile. The factory profile is calibrated for the specific toner cartridge family.

6. Cannot Find Account Track Field

In the print dialog dropdown, choose Output Method or Printer Features. If still missing, the driver pack may be the Postscript-only build; download the full driver bundle and re-install.

7. Scan to Folder Fails

macOS turned off SMBv1 long ago. So set your shared folder to SMBv2 or higher, then re-enter the credentials on the bizhub panel.

8. Tahoe 26 “Driver Not Compatible” Warning

Konica Minolta released Tahoe 26 drivers for current bizhub families in late 2025. But older bizhub C220 or C280 units may not have a Tahoe driver. Check the European OS compatibility page; if your model is not listed, ask your dealer about firmware upgrades or device refresh options.
